Design Specification

My first scene will have a blank background where the teacher with give an introduction of what I'm going to teach the audience and his name etc. The background will be white and there will be no music in this scene. There will be 2 sprite in which one will be the teacher himself and the second one will be a basket ball because that's the whole point of my design situation.
The next scene will be taken place in a basket ball court because my design situation is to teach the audience about basketball and how to play it/basic rules and actions. In this situation there will also be 2 sprites which will be the same as the first scene: The teacher and the basketball. in the scene I will explain how to pass the pass with 2 techniques: Bounce Pass and Chest Pass.
The third scene will have the same background and the second scene: Basketball court. In this scene the set shot will be taught. The same 2 sprites will be both present as the same.
In the last will have the background changed; instead of having a basketball court there will be the same black page just like the first scene (white background). The same 2 sprite will be present. In this scene there will be the bye-bye's and the conclusion and the ending of my program will be done.

Design Breif

I have decided that I have made my final decision by using animated characters and make them teach the audience my design situation which is making other people, specifically beginners, to learn to play the sport: basketball.

Things I will be teaching in my design situation:

  • Shooting
  • Passing (chest pass, overhead pass and bounce pass)
  • Dribbling
  • And how to add more power to your shot

Strengths and Weaknesses - Analysis

Strengths
The animation is simple and catchy to players who are beginners for basketball. It also won’t be that long so people won’t get bored and the pictures are attractive and not dull. The information will also be short like notes not a long paragraph. The pictures will have bright colors for people to look at it more.
Weaknesses
There won’t be a lot of detail as the information will be notes not a paragraph as I mentioned before in my strengths.
Opportunities
Whoever watches my animation using scratch will get better at playing basketball and they will enjoy it even more as they know how to score new shots.
Threats
They will be too engrossed in it that they will forget to do other things and try the basketball tricks that I showed in my animation

My Research Table Plan

What will I research?
How will I gather the information?
PRIMARY SOURCE
How will I gather the information?
SECONDARY SOURCE
Why will I research this information?
When will I do this?
End User (My Brother)
I will interview my brother to ask him about what type of shots he likes and which ones he knows so that I know which shots to put.
I will go on the internet and get information about these shots and how to play them.
I want to find out what his favorite shots are or which ones he knows so that I can design my animation accordingly.
November 10th
Existing designs (field research)
I will go to the PE department and I will get pictures of cricket shots.
I will most probably get the best pictures of the shots and I will put them in my animation.
This will help to make the animation better as the pictures will help my brother to learn better and faster.

My Design Situation

In our design class were are making a design situation using the Scratch Program. Scratch is a programming language and an online community where children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation with people from all over the world. As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically.

My problem was how to start and program scratch, I tried to do it for a few times although I couldn't start or use the programming features.  Miss helped me and taught me how to use it properly. I kept trying until it worked and i started o use it with confidence. It was hard tho know I learnt how to program scratch using my ideas which makes me a thinker, knowledgeable and an inquirer. I'm looking forward of learning more and be a caring person and help my class mates what I know. My design situations keep increasing via of learning more stuff such as programming, creating a website. I'm learning more within the months. I really want to be a good programmer that why ill be practicing in my house and learn more in school.Ill be having more marks if I do so however overall I still do have difficulties here and there although overall I will always work my hardest and my best.

My digital design will educate people to learn basketball but dogs will be performing it.

What was your inspiration?
My inspiration to do an animation of a dog is because I love dogs especially the Golden Retriever. It also looks realistic as dogs do walk. The animation looks attractive to me and hopefully I get one in the future.

How did you do that?
I used scratch to create the animation and made it turn and walk in different directions. I also wanted to make it bark but the bark that was in the app was too harsh in sound so I decided not to use it and left it as it was, without the recorded bark.

What did you get stuck on? How did you get unstuck?
As I said in the question above I got stuck on choosing the specific bark so i left it animation with out the bark.the recorder. I tied a lot but it didn't sound right so I decided to just leave it as it is.

What are you most proud of?
I am, most proud of the way the dog moved in different directions and how it became an animation from using the app. I am also proud of the way it looked like while I also played around with to make it look the way I wanted it to look like.

What might you do next?

I might try to fix the recording system and record barking sounds. I will also try to make the dog point at other things and I will also try to create a background and try to make the dog smile and swing its tail as well.

Inquiry and Analysing – Creative Computing

Questions:

1. What is creative computing?

Creative Computing was one of the earliest magazines covering the microcomputer revolution. Published from October 1974 until October 1985, the magazine covered the whole spectrum of hobbyist/home/personal computing in a more accessible format than the rather technically oriented BYTE.

2. What are the different ways you interact with computer?

Suma mouse prototype, The Peregrine Glove, Tobii REX, Displair, SixthSense, Luminae TransluSense Keyboard, MIseeTX, Intellect Motion's GameCube, Disney's Botanicus Interactus and Shogun Bros Chameleon X-1.

3. How many of those ways involve you creating with computers?

Some, including Luminae TransluSense Keyboard since its made from a progector and not a hardware but a software.
